Barbeque Safety
Is there a safety hazard in allowing my tenants to utilize their barbque grills?
Is it dangerous to allow the tenants to use barbeque grills in their patio area when there four to five gas meters that occupy a section in each patio?
It depends on where this is and local codes. I live in southern Ontario, Canada. The thing I would be mostly concerned with is that meters usually have a regulator attached to them! Well…regulator vents must be at least 10 feet from a source of ignition here, so unless these are fairly large patios and the grills are at least 10 feet away, then propane and natural gas installation codes prevent their use…A fire department wont know about these requirements, so I suggest you speak to the fuel supplier to get their opinion and position on this matter. Ultimately it is the supplier of the hydrocarbon who is responsible if there is an incident, so they deserve to make the decision.
