Barbeque Supply
12 volt DC power supply?
I want to set up a car stereo for use in my outdoor barbeque. Can I use one of those portable battery jump starters to convert the 120AC to 12 volt DC for use as a 12-volt DC power supply? Will this type of use harm either item?
Yes it will work, but it will run down somewhat soon depending on the size of battery in it.
It will not harm your system if you polarize correctly.
Bigger batter = longer life…
You can also purchase a power supply such as from Astron. I don’t recommend switching power supplies for this pupose as they will heat and fail sooner in this application, get an analog supply instead, anything from 12 to 14V is fine…
