Bbq Brethren
what dessert would go well with a bbq?
in a couple of weeks, my fiance and i are having a bbq with my family and my brother’s gf, and we were thinking about making a dessert to bring, but was wondering what would go well with the bbq. The bbq will have both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food, and i was hoping to make something different for them to enjoy, it doesn’t matter if its not vegetarian friendly, since i’m not into sweet things at the moment, but i would like to make something that they’re going to love. Any ideas or recipes would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
1. A big bowl of cut melon! Chilled and sweet juicy!
2. Texas Sheet Cake. Hello mah dahrlin’s!
3. Pick-up some vanilla ice cream, and some toppings and have a sundae bar!
4. One of our favorites is Fried Ice Cream.. but come on! How are you going to do that??
5. Cinnamon and BBQ go hand-in-hand for flavors. Why not make some snickerdoodle cookies and offer some chocolate chocolate chip cookies too!
6. PRALINES! Oh, big pralines.. luscious pecans and that rich buttery and brown sugar praline flavor is killer with BBQ!
7. Lemon Pound cake with mint leaves. Or, served with minted ice tea.. yummmma.
8. Fritters! Oh, do some banana, cherry, apple, and maybe some peach! Smaller drops, tender fruity insides, crispy sugary outsides.. and so delcious! Never forget that fritters might have been an original BBQ dessert!
9. Triffle! Use angel food cake torn into chunks, have some rich french vanilla custard pudding (Jell-O cook and serve is great to use here), and some cool whip, and add fresh fruit! I love peach and raspberry.. and you can thaw some frozen peaches and raspberries to use too! Or, do several different berries! Lusicious.. delicious.. and actually as heavy as the triffle will weigh, it is so light to eat!
10. A selection of Chocoate, Peanut Butter, and Butterscotch brownies on a platter!
One of my favorite BBQ desserts is Lemon Sorbet. After BBQ, with the spice and the delicous fatty meats.. or smoked meats.. (I love it all!) or even chicken.. whatever! I like the lemon sorbet because it cuts through the fats and cleans my mouth and is so refreshing.
Also, keep in mind that vanilla ice cream is probably one of the best to settle spicy indigestion and I never met a person who loves BBQ that wouldn’t sit down and eat a bowl or cone with a good quality ice cream!
Could you bring an ice cream maker? Homemade Peach is delectible.. and even chocolate or vanilla! Yum!
And, I love Dairy Queen Ice Cream Sandwiches. I know it seems like a cheap way out in terms of thinking and moola.. but honest to Pete.. they’ll fly out of their boxes! You can buy six to a box.. and they are so good!
Good Luck!
