Mark/chip on filling, what is this?
About 2 months ago I had a composite filling placed in my very back bottom molar. Today I noticed a very tiny (almost miniscule) black/brown spec in the middle of the filling. What could this be? I’ve brushed it and brushed it but its not moving. Have I somehow chipped it very slightly, will this need replacing or if it is incredibly tiny will this not matter.
I went to the hygienist just last week and she didnt say anything but then again maybe she wasnt looking at my fillings or maybe it wasnt there then. I’ve also had a review appointment with the dentist 2 weeks ago, but again maybe it wasnt there then.
I do sometimes drink dark drinks such as coke, and did eat rather sticky chicken wings in bbq sauce recently, could it be a tiny discolouration spot perhaps….but could this happen in just 2 months? Have also read about the decay coming through the filling but again surely 2 months would be too quick for thiS??
There may be a little void in the filling material that has picked up some stain. The dentist can easily smooth it off and polish it in less than a minute. Good luck.
