Simple method of cooking will be the best and alcohol free as im pregnant. it will be for a birthday party…
Actually i have lots of octopus at home and fishes. Can octopus be barbecued // grilled ?? LOL
Here is a list of the usual and now boring side dishes i always cook when having a BBQ // grill party
Of course : chicken, meat, sausages (chiken or mutton)
Mashed or baked or gratinee Potatoes
Coleslow with nuts and raisins and apples
lettuce salad
corn on the cob grilled with a dash of lemon juice
or pasta salad and the above salads….

- I make a wicked potato salad, with baby potatoes boiled in their skins plus mayo, a big spoonful of wholegrain mustard, lots of chives, black pepper and some lemon juice.

- You can certainly barbecue a lot of types of fish. It’s a good idea to marinate them in flavoured oils or lemon juice and herbs and wrap them in tin foil to cook, so that the delicate flesh doesn’t fall apart on the grill! I love doing salmon or trout with loads of fresh herbs.
- Try a tomato salad – cut tomatoes into chunks, season them well (tomatoes need salt for true deliciousness!) and marinate in a little olive oil and crushed garlic. Throw in some sliced olives and basil leaves before serving.
- Spice up your meat with a marinade or additional flavour: try pork chops in pineapple juice, with a slice of grilled pineapple, or chicken slathered with mustard and honey or fajita spices, or prawns marinated in garlic oil or sesame oil – really easy and really delicious!
- Try vegetable kebabs, using any combination of peppers, red onion wedges, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, courgette pieces, pineapple chunks… get creative! Grilling is a really delicious way to cook vegetables, and of course you could brush on a flavoured oil or sprinkle with herbs and seasoning if you wanted to.
- Try picking a theme for your barbecue and seeing how far you can push it: go all-American and focus on burgers and steaks with lots of pickles, fried onions and cheeses; or team a Greek salad and some flavoured couscous with grilled fish, lamb kebabs and that lovely octopus. Pick a mediterranean theme and go with prawns and pork plus tomato salad, spanish tortilla etc. Or meats marinated in Mexican spices, served with bean salad or refried beans, shredded lettuce, rice with spicy veg in, loads of tortilla chips, sour cream, avocado salad… You get the idea. Again, get creative!
- You gotta have a green salad at a barbecue, but if you think it’s boring, spice it up a little with some peppery watercress or rocket, some fresh herbs, or even some nasturtiums! Nasturtium leaves and flowers are edible and have a really hot peppery taste – and the flowers just make a salad look AMAZING! Other flowers you can use in salads are calendula, violets, and chive flowers. OR, just pick an extra ingredient that matches your theme and throw it in (flavoured croutons, olives, sundried tomatoes, a particular herb etc.)
- Provide plenty of dips and sauces that go with your chosen foods. Guacamole, sour cream, houmous, garlic mayo, salsa, different relishes etc., depending on what you’re serving.
