What is the best smoker?
I am looking for a smoker as a present. I would like something that has a vertical design with a door that opens similar to a refrigerator. I really like this Bradley smoker http://www.amazon.com/Bradley-BTIS1-Original-Automatic-Outdoor/dp/B000FK2DNM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1249236142&sr=8-1 but am looking for something about half the price. The person I’m buying it for is not sure if he’s loves to smoke but would like to try it out so about $150 would be my top end. Something that is electric would be preferable (ie lazy-Q). If you have personal experience that you could share that would be great. Alternatively a link to a site with some reviews.

Well I don’t have a link. But I found that the cheaper, low cost electrical models are good starter smokers. I have tried several and they are all pretty equal in the $200 or less range. The sheet metal is pretty flimsy, smoke and heat escapes around the doors and the heat is basically the same. But these are the way to go when starting out.
Once your friend decides they like smoking they will want to step up to a heavy duty smoker and decide if they want to go traditional and get away from the electric.
