Advice regarding briskett please????

Hi

It’s my step-daughter’s 11th birthday tomorrow and we’re just having family round to celebrate. I was thinking of doing hot roast beef and onion barmcakes for the adults and hot dogs for the kids.

I’ve bought the briskett which is massive and want to cook it in my slow cooker – do you advise sealing it first or just putting on low for how many hours? Is there anything I can add to the stock to make it even tastier?

It’s always better to brown the meat really well on all sides first, to get that nice carmelization going. Salt and pepper well, then brown in oil.

Place in the slow cooker, along with a cut up onion or two, some bay leaves, garlic, celery, and carrot. All these will greatly enhance the flavor of the meat. I like adding a little tomato product too, like a can of tomato sauce or puree. And of course enough liquid to cover – along with water, beer or wine will add a lot of flavor as well.
