SMOKERS: Why do you throw your cigarette butts on the ground even when you’re inches from a trash can?

Are you really THAT lazy that you’d rather litter than take a few more steps and put your cigarette butts in the garbage where they belong?

or that stupid or ignorant of some city ordinances? These days in a lot of cities and towns that will get you fined. Medford, Oregon is one of those places. My daughter when she was 18 dropped a cigarette butt on the ground, as did her friend. Police fined them both $160 apiece. She came home with a sob story, but I refused to lend her the money since I didn’t agree with her smoking in the first place…and I figure she had just gotten a part-time job, and she was going on and on about being an “adult” so I figure, ok, learn an “adult” lesson about personal responsibility. $20 was all that was left after paying the fine…and she had to live on that for two weeks. She sure learned her lesson…and learned how to correctly extinguish a cigarette.

Now she’s 25 y/o and finally quit smoking…thank goodness!
