Will there be a barbeque tax LOL, has my local council lost its mind?

My friends have informed me that my local council (Hinckley and Bosworth) have decided to apply a “greenhouse gas” tax on back-yard barbeques. Its been featured in the local papers, but i figured its surely an April fools joke. I would gladly stand in front of a judge and say “I was cooking my food, as humans have for hundreds of thousands of years”. Please help. !!

According to a Daily Mail writer it was an April Fool’s joke. The trouble is that so much of the news, particularly about Government, is pretty surreal it’s quite difficult these days to spot the jokes.
