why does my chicken always burn on the george foreman?
i thought i could use barbecue sauce on my chicken and cook it. i had one george foreman indoor grill before and it burnt everything really bad. like it wouldn’t cook the chicken all the way through, just really end up burning the outside. so i bought a new one.
now i just cooked some chicken with barbecue sauce on it, and it slightly burnt the corners. can i not use barbecue sauce on the grill? i could have sworn i could!
In short: NO. BBQ sauce has a ton of sugar. This will burn and stick to the grill really easily.
That said, there’s always a way if one is really stubborn (and I am!). When you’re ready to put the sauce on, take the chicken off, put down a sheet of parchment paper or tin foil (don’t use wax paper here and especially don’t use any kind of plastic wrap). Then, put the chicken back on.
This layer will allow your chicken to still cook and prevent the nasty sugary mess from burning to your grill forever. Yes, you can wipe it off while it’s still hot … maybe … if you’re in time … if you’re lucky.
Keep the grill open at this point … just pour or brush on the sauce. You’ll have to cook slightly longer to make up for the grill being open but you’ll be happy because your grill isn’t destroyed, you have your BBQ sauce, AND cleanup was actually easier.
