Pork Barbecue Sandwich
How much food do I make for a barbecue (for 150 people)?
I am having a barbecue, for which 150 people will be in attendance. The menu is as follows: pulled pork sandwiches, meatball and sausage sandwiches, pasta salad, potato salad, and pizza casserole. How much of each food do I need to purchase/make in order to feed all of the guests? I understand that some guests will choose not to eat one of the main entrees… but we would rather have too much food instead of not enough.
Here’s how I would order if this were my event….
Pulled Pork = 1/4 lb. per person = 37 to 38 lbs.
Buns for Pulled Pork = Slider Size = 300 to 325 or Regular Size = 150 to 175 buns
Meatballs = 1/4 lb. per person or 37 to 38 lbs.
Sausages = 1/4 lb. per person or 37 to 38 lbs.
Buns for Meatball and Sausage Sandwiches = 300 to 350 rolls
Pasta Salad – 1/4 lb (or 1/2 cup) per person = 37 to 38 lbs. or 75 cups / 19 qts.
Potato Salad = 1/4 lb. (1/2 cup ) = 37 to 38 lbs. or 75 cups / 19 qts.
Pizza Casserole = 1/4 lb. (1/2 cup) = 37 to 38 lbs. or 75 cups / 19 qts.
Hope that helps. Your planning for your particular menu looks like you should be planning on 1/4 lb. of each item per guest you are inviting (except for the buns / rolls). I think you will be fine if you use that rule of thumb for this event.
