Small Barbeque
A backyard barbeque reception? In January? In ALASKA?
My fiance and I have been discussing wedding things lately. We don’t plan to get married until I graduate, but we know all the other details. He has recently expressed a desire to have a barbeque in his parents backyard, since we will have only 10 guests. However, our wedding is planned for early to mid January. And we live in Alaska. His solution to this is to get a big tent like thing, snow blow the lawn, and set up outdoor heaters in the tent so we can all be warm. I want to support his ideas, and that WOULD be really fun if it was feasible, but I don’t know if it is feasible! What do you all think? We can’t really go indoors to eat, because his parents house is too small. We have apartments which barely fit us on our own.
Any ideas how I can either fix this idea, or has this idea worked for anyone else out there?

I know you have tossed around a few ideas, but this one….well…NOT a good idea.
I live in upper Michigan, which I am assuming is somewhat “warmer” than Alaska in January….but really….I mean, we can have temperatures of -10F.
For only 10 people….you have LOTS of options, but I would NOT think that this option would be a good one.
If I remember correctly, you are getting married at a Catholic Church….can you use the fellowship hall at the church? OR…if your fiance really insists on a BBQ…fine…but not in January in Alaska! You will need to move it to July or August.
My opinion….by the time your pay to rent the tent, the heaters, buy the propane or gas for the heaters, pay for the food, etc…..well, you could have taken everyone out to dinner for that price and everyone will be much more toasty than sitting outdoors in January in Alaska!
