Smoker Heating Element
How can I digitally control a heating element?
I’m creating a DIY project to automatically control the temperature in a homemade smoker. I need to control how much heat is put out by an electric coil hotplate. I want to alter the resistance to the heating element depending on tempurature readings to raise and lower the temperature. I have most of the circuit figured out but I’m not very good with analog circuits.
I’ve looked at a few Digital potentiometers but none are rated for something as high as AC 120V. Also, I don’t want to use a relay to shut off the heat as I need a constant heat source to produce smoke.
Is this even possible?
