Southern Style Barbecue
What is the best pork barbecue restaurant in Las Vegas?
I’m visiting next week and want to find a real traditional, Southern-style pork barbecue restuarant that I can take my friends to. Must cook the authentic way – low and slow in their own charcoal/hickory pit

Well, that’s not as easy as one might think; given that this valley has over 1.5 million people.
background first – I’m a NC Tarhill Hillbilly, and a conniseur of Southern BBQ.
OK – the best you are going to get at a sitdown restaurant is at Ellis Island’s BBQ & Brew (yes, they make their own brews, including homemade Root Beer) – they’re at Koval & Flamingo – 4178 Koval Lane – 702-733-8901.
They have a rack of ribs that just barely stick to the bone, and almost melt in your mouth – also, a half of a chicken is also available. — they do not have pulled pork.
the 2 main dishes are (imho) 1/2 rack of ribs & 1/2 chicken for about $10.00 — or a whole rack of ribs on about a 13″ oval platter for again about $10.00 >> comes with corn on the cob, cole slaw, baked beans & garlic bread – with lots of moist towellettes *__*.

the best pulled pork sandwiches in town, great ribs and other BBQ items, made on a open spit grill about 8 feet long and 4 feet wide, is available only on Saturdays & Sundays, from about 10 AM to 3 PM at the largest flea maket in the valley – YES I said flea market – at the Hula Hula Chicken stand at Broadacres Flea market 2930 N Las Vegas Blvd. – I kid you NOT – but it’s a ways from the strip, there is a place to sit down, but it is NOT a restaurant – but it is umm ummm good – *____*.
the 2nd best pulled pork BBQ sandwich is at Pops Philly Cheesesteaks, 501 South Decatur Boulevard

they are foot long hoagies, and they have something similiar to round picnic tables to set at, outside – I suggest you get them to go, and eat them at your hotel. VERY good.

OK – next is probably the 2nd best BBQ restaurant in the whole valley – Buckingham Smokehouse BBQ Ste 100, 2341 North Rainbow Boulevard, Las Vegas, NV 89108(702) 638-7799
They ARE actually quite good – has about the largest menu of any of the BBQ restaurants, including catfish & shrimp – they have the best BBQ beans in town – give them a try, I don’t think you will be dissappointed.
…… I have ranked the BBQs in order of REAL Southern BBQ.
the other BBQ restaurants in town, including Memphis BBQ, Daves BBQ, Tony Romas etc are not so great for a hillbilly that KNOWS BBQ.
